Steelers are planing to release Hines Ward

Steelers WR Hines Ward

Steelers President Art Rooney II told Steelers.com that he is planning to release WR Hines Ward before the 2012 season starts.

“We had a conversation today with Hines Ward and informed him that we plan to release him of his contract prior to the start of the 2012 NFL calendar year,” Steelers President Art Rooney II told the team’s website, Steelers.com. “Hines has been an integral part of our success since we drafted him in 1998 and we will forever be grateful for what he has helped us achieve. He has meant so much to this organization, both on and off the field, and we appreciate his efforts over the past 14 years. Hines’ accomplishments are numerous, and he will always be thought of as one of the all-time great Steelers. We wish him nothing but the best.”
Ward was originally drafted by the Steelers in the third round of the 1998 NFL Draft out of Georgia. He spent 14 years in Pittsburgh and became the team’s all-time leader in receptions (1,000), receiving yards (12,083), receiving touchdowns (85).
Ward was a great player and Im sure the steelers will miss him a lot.

NFL Scouting Combine

Ex-Baylor QB Robert Griffin III

The NFL Scouting Combine started Saturday and ended today.
OL: Matt Kalil is the best prospect into the pros he ran a pretty solid 40 with 4.99, good bench press 30 reps, his vertical jump was 27 inches.Kalil has been dominating the left side in USC for the past 2 years.
A surprise at the combine was WR Stephen Hill he was a beast in Indy he is 6 4 and has incredible speed he ran 4.36 in the 40 tied for the best time.Malcolm Floyd proved that he isnt just a big receiver he showed quickness running a decent time with 4.47.Kendall Wright turned out to be disappointing because he isn't really a big receiver, he was supposed to be a fast guy but he didn't ran well.
Now lets talk QB Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III are supposed to go in the 1st round.Andrew Luck showed how big athlete he is puting similar numbers to the ones from Cam Newton.
On the other hand RG3 for me is kind of a younger Micheal Vick he is a freak making one of the most impressive participations in the Combine.
The only thing  I didn't like was that neither of them went to throw because you cant see how they handle to throw to guys that they don't know.
Although the combine shouldn't affect the teams decision to draft someone because it is not the same to play geared up than in a pair of shorts, but there is always someone with a great combine that rises his stock.
